Wisconsin Havarti and Pear Pastries
Combining sweet pears, cinnamon, and Wisconsin Havarti
cheese these puffy little pastries pack the perfect punch
of flavor!
Serves 8
INGREDIENTS:
| 1 | sheet frozen puff pastry |
| For Pear Filling: | |
| ¼ | cup sugar |
| ¼ | cup all-purpose flour |
| ½ | tsp cinnamon |
| juice and zest of ½ lemon | |
| 2-3 | medium pears, peeled and finely chopped to make 2 cups |
| 8 | slices Wisconsin Havarti cheese |
| 1. | Thaw puff pastry at room temperature for 30 minutes. |
| 2. | Preheat oven to 400ºF. |
| 3. | In small bowl, mix sugar, flour, and cinnamon. |
| 4. | In another small bowl, mix pears, lemon juice and zest. |
| 5. | Carefully unfold pastry onto a lightly floured surface. |
| 6. | Roll into 10 x 15-inch rectangle. |
| 7. | Brush lightly with water. |
| 8. | Combine sugar-flour and pear-lemon juice mixtures from your 2 small bowls. |
| 9. | With the short side of the pastry facing you, spoon filling on pastry and spread |
| to within 2 inches of the short sides and to the edge of the long sides. | |
| 10. | Starting at the short side, roll like a jelly roll. |
| 11. | Cut roll into 8 (about 1 ½-inch) slices. |
| 12. | Place 2 inches apart on buttered baking sheet. |
| 13. | Bake 20 minutes or until golden. |
| 14. | Remove from oven and place a Havarti slice on each pastry. |
| 15. | Return to oven just until cheese melts, about a minute. |
| 16. | Remove rolls from baking sheet and cool on wire rack. |
